Considering an INFINITI for your next luxury vehicle purchase in Easton-Philipsburg? Like many car buyers, you’re probably curious about who makes INFINITI sedans, crossovers, and SUVs. INFINITI got its start as a luxury branch of Nissan Motor Company in 1987, and was officially launched in 1989. In the 2000s, Nissan Motors leadership decided it was time for INFINITI to break away from its roots with Nissan and develop its own identity as a luxury brand.

So, while it’s still Nissan who owns INFINITI, they began redefining it as the “Japanese BMW” with the launch of the G Series coupe. Join the Bennett INFINITI of Allentown staff as we explore the past, present, and future of INFINITI.

Where Are INFINITI Vehicles Made?

You already know that it’s Nissan, a Japanese company, who owns INFINITI. But when it comes to manufacturing and assembly, who makes INFINITI cars, crossovers, and SUVs? INFINITI continues to make the majority of models in Japan, but the brand’s global popularity has spurred the automaker to establish plants in the US, Mexico, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Britain. For instance, the INFINITI QX60 crossover is manufactured in Smyrna, Tennessee, and the QX50 crossover is produced and assembled at a facility in Mexico. The following models are produced in Japan:

  • Q50 Sedan
  • Q70 Sedan
  • Q70L Sedan
  • Q60 Coupe
  • QX80 SUV

We’ve already discussed who makes INFINITI, but there’s another question that’s more relevant to you, the buyer. Who makes INFINITI cars unique, and ensures that every vehicle reflects the brand’s forward-thinking values? We’re happy to report that current INFINITI leadership is pushing into new territory like never before. In January of 2018, INFINITI chief executive Hiroto Saikawa revealed that the brand would be transformed into an all-electric brand by 2021. In other words, every vehicle in the 2021 lineup is either hybrid or all-electric.
